“N2520 seems like a very interesting option for photo studios”
Bookmark and Share

12/09/2013- For the first time ever 35photos.ru, a website popular among photographers in Russia, has tested a Thecus® NAS. And for good reason – this small, 2-bay NAS is ideal for photographers!

The first part of the review was dedicated to explaining that external drives, as a tool for storing data, have an elegant alternative – network attached storage. After this introduction, all attention turned to the Thecus® N2520. The editors highlighted the dual-core Intel® Atom CE5315 SoC, elegant exterior (which makes this NAS ideal for any modern living room), possible connectivity, set-up process, and last but not least the firmware: ThecusOS 6.

35photos.ru's editors finished up the review with a number of insightful remarks: “The performance of the processor is sufficient for performing several tasks simultaneously – for example, copying data from USB, downloading torrents, and exchanging data with PCs. We should also point out the high efficiency of the cooling system (according to the data we got from our SMART test, the hard drive temperature during the operation never exceeded 32°С) and the rather low noise level. And of course the device boasts a beautiful exterior, which for some is not the last criteria when choosing a new device.”

“Thanks to the various functions of the Thecus N2520, the device seems like a very interesting option for photo studios. When using cameras equipped with embedded or external wireless Wi-Fi adaptors, it's possible to transfer images to NAS via the local network close to in real time. This is convenient when it's necessary to make video recordings on the fly, firstly because photographers don't have to interrupt their work to copy recorded material, and secondly because those who deal with image processing will receive access to the material on their computers immediately. Besides, the N2520's remote access function means that you can download files for further processing and printing via the Internet.”

Thanks to the 35photos.ru team for the great review!
