11/28/2013- When users are setting up their NAS with the Intelligent NAS utility for the first time, they will be prompted to create their very own Thecus ID or to login with their ID if they already have one. But what exactly are the benefits of having a Thecus ID? This article will help shed light on why you should register for your ID today!
One of the reasons to create a Thecus ID is that it gives the user access to the Thecus® free DDNS service. (What exactly DDNS is has already been the subject of a previous tech news article.) This essentially allows you to use your username to access your NAS through the internet instead of keying in a complicated set of digits for your IP address. You can access your NAS more easily this way by not having to memorize a rather random set of numbers. Also, if your IP address ever changes, the DDNS Server will automatically match the new IP address with your URL, saving you from having to commit to memorize a new set of numbers. Your NAS will always be available through the same DDNS address.
One ID for them all
Another benefit of getting your own Thecus ID is the convenience of needing only one set of login details for all your Thecus® devices. Login once in the management console and all your devices will be listed. You will then be able to access and manage them all from this central hub without needing to login into each individually.
And room for development
But this is only the beginning. Thecus® is continuously working on new ways to improve your NAS experience. One of them is to actually use your Thecus ID for technical support. With it, our technical support will be able to easily identify and access (with your consent of course) your NAS's log files. These log files will help our support specialists to quickly identify and resolve the issue facing your NAS so that it can be back up and running in no time.
