11/20/2013- The German team of the world famous tech website, Tom's Hardware, is in charge of reviewing NAS devices. They recently had a look at the Thecus® N2560 and were pleasantly surprised.
The Thecus® N2560 is the bigger brother of the Thecus N2520 and comes with stronger hardware, namely a beefed up Intel® Atom™ SoC CE 5335 processor harnessing 1.6GHz of power and double the amount of RAM of its predecessor (2GB) . “You notice that the new processor and the doubled up RAM suit the device very well.”
The sleek white design of the Thecus® N2560 also pleased Tom's Hardware's editor. “Like the N2520, the N2560 comes in an elegant white … The status LEDs glows white, the main switch in blue – a nice combination.”
Tom's Hardware's extensive performance tests showed that the performance of the N2560 is one of its major strengths. “The measured values don't have to hide themselves from any other NAS in this category.” In terms of noise and operating temperature, the Thecus® N2560 also did a good job by measuring on par compared to its closest competitors. The operating temperature of 33°C was even slightly lower than needed.
The Thecus® N2560 also comes with ThecusOS™, Thecus's own OS for NAS. Already in its 6th iteration, it received a completely updated navigation system and a more user-friendly interface.
The review closes with the editor acknowledging that the Thecus® N2560 is a “low priced, modern and nifty NAS with a good price performance ratio.” With this strong contender, Thecus® has closed the gap between themselves and their competitors.
