11/13/2013-The popular German website Hardwareluxx is especially popular among more advanced IT fans, thanks to their technically in-depth articles and reviews. One of their most recent reviews has been of the Thecus® N2560 and the results are very favorable.
Hardwareluxx's editors were very pleased with the newest iteration of the ThecusOS™, which is already the 6th major update of the operating system. The whole structure of the ThecusOS™ has been revamped and redesigned in version 6, having a very positive effect on the usability. Additional software (or modules) can be installed more easily and the T-OnTheGo™ mobile app works like a charm (so that accessing files with a mobile device is very easy).
Hardwareluxx wouldn't call themselves by that name if they didn't take a very close look at their review units' hardware. And lucky they did, because this is where the Thecus® N2560 is really able to flex its muscles. Equipped with an Intel® dual-core SoC Atom™ processor, it is able to handle HD-video material with ease, and thanks to the HDMI-output, movies and other media can be directly displayed on the user's HD-TV.
But TVs are usually in the living room – a strange place for a NAS, right? Not for this NAS. First, it's quiet enough thanks to its passively cooled processor. Second, the Thecus® N2560 comes in a sleek white design that fits perfectly in every stylish living room. Rarely a fully functional media center has looked so sharp.
Overall Hardwareluxx praised the choice of hardware in the Thecus® N2560 – especially given its energy-efficiency. Hardwareluxx's editor noted, “In our comparisons, it is one of the most energy-efficient devices that still has all the needed hardware for video-output.”
The editor from Hardwareluxx closed with a listing of the Thecus® N2560's strong points:
Can be used as a Home Theater Personal Computer
Solid network speeds
Easy to use mobile app
ThecusOS™6 is a great upgrade
