10/15/2013- The Thecus® N2560 was reviewed by the German tech website Hartware.net and was praised for its fast and easy installation and good usability and performance alongside its built-in ports (such as HDMI).
Looking at the physical aspects of the Thecus® N2560, Hartware.net's editor was pleased with its stylish white design and its impeccable workmanship.
The installation process was very easy according to Hartware.net. No screws or screwdrivers were needed to install the HDDs as HDDs rails are included. These can be snapped onto the HDD so that it can be slid into the NAS easily.
Thecus® also provides another tool specially designed for users who are new to NAS-systems to help them quickly get started. This program is called Intelligent NAS and it helps users with the initial setup by guiding them step-by-step through the installation process. Hartware.net of course wanted to test this new feature, and they were easily able to complete the whole setup quickly.
The Thecus® N2560 comes with a built-in HDMI port for direct streaming of media in HD-quality to your TV. XBMC is pre-installed on the N2560 and just needs to be activated in the modules menu. “Addons for XBMC can be installed easily from within the software if there is an internet connection. Music and images can be displayed without any problems.”
Thecus® hasn't forgotten the more advanced users though and includes the more in-depth operating system, ThecusOS6, for them. “With ThecusOS6, the manufacturer is on the right track. The improvements compared to version 5 are clearly visible. Advancements can be noticed especially in the logical arrangement of the menus.”
Hartware.net finished off their review with the following: “The white Thecus N2560 looks great and can definitively be used in the living room. The casing is processed solidly and possesses great stability. The initial installation is simple and can even be easily completed by non-experienced users.”
