10/08/2013-On October 3rd, Thecus® and its Russian distributor, Tayle, held its annual press conference at a charming Japan House in Moscow, Russia. As a co-marketing effort, speakers from Intel and Western Digital also attended the event and gave their presentations. Intel's representative discussed their latest technology's place in the NAS industry, while Western Digital's introduced their upgraded RED drives (which are designed specifically to work with network attached storage devices) and elaborated on their close cooperation with Thecus®.
The conference began with a short introduction by the Tayle's CEO, Igor Belousov, which was followed by a presentation from Olga Shipilo from Thecus®. Ms Shipilo emphasized Thecus's more aggressive strategy in tackling the home and SMB segment by creating easy to install and use devices and software. Thecus® also announced two new models for SOHO and SMB markets, the N2520/N2560 and N4520/N4560, and demonstrated their key features, such as their energy efficient Intel® Atom™ CE5315/ CE5335 SoC processors, low noise level, easy access through DDNS service, HDMI output, and client utility, Intelligent NAS (which is designed to make NAS easily accessible - even for those of us who are not tech savvy). Both the HDMI output and Intelligent NAS utility were showcased in a live demo setup where guests could take them for a spin. Following this, two N16000PROs were set up to demonstrate the famous High Availability function.
Besides the Intelligent NAS utility on the software side, Thecus® presented its new firmware, the ThecusOS 6.0. The new OS allows users to automatically upgrade their firmware and modules through the UI, no need to visit the website anymore. ThecusOS 6.0 was furthermore completely redesigned to become faster, more flexible, and easier to use, thanks its new icon-based interface. Also presented to the audience where some of Thecus® latest innovations such as volume expansion via 10GbE, daisy chaining, High Availability (HA), local and remote backup solutions via Data Guard, and a reliable antivirus solution with McAfee.
At the end of the presentation, before the guests were invited to socialize over food and drinks, Thecus® and Tayle held a giveaway with big and small prizes. Two lucky participants won a N2520 and an N4520 equipped with two 1TB WD RED drives, while two other winners each walked away with a WD RED drive!”
Thecus® would like to particularly thanks Intel and WD for joining them at this year press event and helping to make it a very successful one!
