09/27/2013-The September issue of PC Magazine, Russia was dedicated to network-attached storage systems. While various devices were reviewed, the Thecus® N2520 outshone all of its competitors. The 2-bay NAS runs an Intel Atom CE5315 SoC processor, which it very cool and quiet. The easy setup process and excellent selection of functions offered by the N2520 prompted PC Magazine to give it their highest grade – 5 stars! Besides this high praise, it was also noted that no disadvantages were found.
Among the N2520's special features, PC Magazine highlighted the HDMI port's ability to stream multimedia from the NAS: “The NAS, besides its expected storage function, has additional features like displaying various promotional videos and visual print materials, organizing companies' visual archives, receiving data from IP-cameras, etc.”
Special attention was also given to the ease of the setup process: “After installing hard drives into the Thecus N2520, connecting it to the local network, and turning it on, the setup is done extremely fast – even faster than the 5 minutes promised by Thecus. Thecus then provides users with the opportunity to register an address with their DDNS service, which allows easy access to the NAS without the need to memorize a complicated IP-address, like http://192.168.1.13.”
As for the performance, N2520 reached 77/87 MB/s for reading and writing in SiSoftware Sandra Lite 2013.
