09/04/2013- Your memories are precious. That's the sentiment Baby Bear begins his Thecus® N2520 review with. And fragile, and easily lost when drives (1TB in his case) fail.
After losing his store of photos and videos, Baby Bear began investigating data backup solutions. When first he learnt about NAS, he wondered why people were willing to pay so much extra for what appears (at least on the surface) to be a little computer. But as he read about NAS, he began to learn how much there was to these little devices: backing up data, streaming media, downloading files through BitTorrent, setting up FTP servers, and even hosting web albums (to name a few uses). With the help of Big Bear (pictured here getting a feel for the unit), he decided to take a closer look at the Thecus® N2520.
Impressed by the clear and informative packaging, Baby Bear praised the N2520's energy efficiency, easy setup, and generally “user-friendly design”. With the advanced Atom heart and 1GB memory, the N2520's media capabilities were noted as a “cool feature”.
When it came to setting up the system, Baby Bear had no problem using the Intelligent NAS Utility and Thecus® OS6 to create his partitions and claim his free DDNS address. Once everything was up-and-running, Baby Bear walked readers through most of the settings and features users could enjoy, ranging from automatic module updates to video playback. The second half of his review also serves as an in-depth guide for all our Chinese readers out there.
Closing his article, Baby Bear helps explain that a great niche for the N2520 is novice home users who are looking for greater security for their data. And we agree with Baby Bear, in the Thecus® N2520 we have exactly that- and more!
Thanks for the great review and guide Baby Bear (and thanks for helping out Big Bear)!
