07/19/2013- The beauty of the internet is that you can manage your files at home from anywhere as if you were sitting at home in front of your computer, provided of course that your files are online. One of the ways to access those files on your Thecus® NAS is by using your Android device and the “ES File Explorer File Manager” app!
This app is available for free in Google's Play store here. Besides letting you access various cloud storage services such as Dropbox, you can also connect to your NAS with FTP (File Transfer Protocol – it is situated in layer 7 of the OSI model, which we covered a while ago here) so that you can manage files between your Android device and your FTP-enabled server.
With the app installed, you are ready to connect your Android device to your Thecus® NAS by using your ThecusID. Just connect to it by using the DDNS and your login and you can manage your files. The app lets you do various things, such as select, cut, copy/paste, create or rename your files. In addition you can compress and decompress your files too. The Thecus® N2520 and the N4520 do of course support FTP functionalities and therefore they let you enjoy all of these features.
