02/05/2013 – The N4800 from Thecus® is the Vision series 4-bay NAS. Like the other units from this series, it is equipped with remarkable material like and Intel® Atom™ processor, 2GB of DDR3 RAM, an HMDI output and a Mini-UPS. Published in mid-January 2013 in a very detailed review, the popular French online media Zebulon.fr offered to it's many readers a very complete and detailed review of all features offered by the network attached storage unit.
Disks trays and display screens identical to the N4200Pro
The quietness of the unit
Very impressive transfers throughput
Well done system monitoring graphics
The multimedia orientation giving independence to the NAS for streaming
Additional modules developed by Thecus and its community
For the performance test, the N4800 from Thecus® was exemplary. Loaded with WD Red HDDs, the editor achieved transfer rates close to the limit of the network capacity. Here are Zebulon's comments on the subject. “After our various tests, it's clear that this NAS can very well support heavy load, as well as the Western Digital Red drives that undoubtedly contribute greatly to these excellent results. The gross performance of the N4800 is well above its predecessor the N4200PRO which, however, defended himself very well already! Thecus has managed to gain maturity in performance of file transfers.”
“To conclude this review, after several weeks with the N4800, it appears to be a worthy successor to the N4200PRO that we already widely appreciated.”
