08/13/2012 – The N2800 is a small 2-bay NAS but everything it has to offer is anything but small. The French blog Cachem had the opportunity to review this surprising machine. Analyzing the NAS' specs, performances and functionalities, Cachem gave its many readers a complete and nice review of the N2800. Their verdict: “Thecus still sign a very good NAS.”
Once again the great design of the N2800 impressed. Pointing out the elegant design of the chassis and the sturdiness of the chosen materials, Cachem qualifies the N2800`s look as reassuring. The inside of the NAS and its connectivity wasn't forgotten either. Intel® Atom™ processor, 2GB of RAM DDR3, USB 2.0 and 3.0, SD card reader, eSata port, 2 Gigabit ports, VGA and HDMI output : “Rather complete this little 2-bay NAS!”
The Intel® Atom™ embedded NAS didn't let anyone down, here are the comments from Cachem: “Very good performances for this Thecus® NAS. When it comes to speed, the N2800 delivers. It offers a nice balance for any size files. Which is rare for a 2-bay: Bravo. In RAID 1, this NAS manages to make peaks at 97 MB/s in writing and 74 MB/s in reading. Most certainly the fastest 2-bay NAS in the world in mirroring! A nice surprise.”
“Features/options wise, with THECUS, we are spoiled again. With a module system and an open SDK (developers, that's for you), it is very easy to install many features to the NAS (Antivirus, DLNA, Torrent, Dropbox, Elephant Drive, etc.).”
“Thecus sign off again a very good NAS. Whether in RAID 0 or RAID 1 the Thecus N2800 does not let himself be surprised by our tests. This 2-bay NAS is certainly the fastest in Raid 1. With many modules, the N2800 offers many possibilities. Bravo… If it's raw performance you're after, this NAS is for you.”
