10/05/2011 – HWP has reviewed Thecus's products many times. This time they have tried and tested the Thecus 4-bay N4200PRO, which is positioned as an SMB/SOHO NAS. Its great features, such as the built-in Mini-UPS backup battery and convenient dual screen design, as well its high value for performance ratio left HWP nothing but to give N4200PRO the award for great design and say that “Thecus has surpassed itself.”
HWP started with a basic description making an emphasis on performance of the device: “As you can understand from the name, we are looking at a 4-bay NAS running an Intel Atom D525 clocked at 1.8GHz and 1 Gb of DDR3. This is a gentleman's set for a business class file server, and according to the characteristics, the Thecus N4200PRO can surprise us with its great performance.”
HWP mentioned that Thecus makes the best OLED displays and slots to position hard drives on the market: “To tell the truth, Thecus N4200PRO has the best display with the most convenient menu that we have ever tested – navigation in the menu is accompanied with graphic icons, everything is convenient and clear, which will make users happy and competitors jealous…Thecus makes the best slots for hard drives, which come with a very nice lock and which never warp when installed.”
HWP ran some tests and was quite surprised with the results: “Such results were unexpected for us, to say the least. Thecus N4200PRO set a speed record while checking the testing folder, which we have never seen before.”
