09/28/2006 – Leading storage solution provider Thecus Technology introduces the N2050, a DAS device that not only comes with multiple RAID levels, but also includes a speedy eSATA interface. In their September issue, PC Shopper Magazine took a look at the Thecus N2050, the results were impressive.
PC Shopper quickly noticed the effort that went in to designing the N2050: “Besides the unique features that separate it from competing products on the market, the N2050 internals also use golden fingers to connect the hard disk with the PCB. Users can install the hard disks onto the internal tray, and line up the golden fingers to secure the drives. Seriously speaking, it is simply a convenient feature, but it also eliminates the need for extraneous cords and adds to the unit's already impressive design.”
Besides all of this, the eSATA interface of the N2050 particularly earned editor's praise: “In practical tests, the eSATA interface and SiliconImage 4723 controller did a tremendous job. Data transferred at extreme speeds, and even surpassed a hard disk connected directly to the motherboard by 30%. For SoHo users, this kind of performance increase really helps with storing data in a flash.”
