“Thecus is one of the pioneers of Network Attached Storage devices, this is their N4810. In this video I am going to show you why it is quickly becoming a popular choice. It caught me by surprise certainly.”
“You should never overlook Thecus, not only because they were one of the first companies at the beginning of this entire industry, but because they have innovated not dissimiliar to QNAP, for the cost of some of these units, they are really worth considering. They have continuously been pushing out units over the years, there is definitely a lot of innovation in their brand.”
Under the hood
The N4810 comes embedded with Intel Celeron N3160 Quad Core CPU - 1.6GHz burst up to 2.24GHz as well as 4GB of DDR3 Memory (Expandable to 8GB). it supports 4K audio and video playback, the machine itself has a HDMI port, DisplayPort output and SPDIF interface.“I am chuffed (very pleased) about the HMDI, but the addition of the a Display port is very interesting indeed.”
The functionality of this 4-bay is impressive, especially at this price. It offers Uninterrupted Accessibility with Thecus System Failover, is DLNA Supported and certified also bundled with Free Acronis and Intel Security.“The unit also runs on BTRFS file system, with that fantastic Snapshot technology. With this functionality and price point for a 4-bay, it really does make it rival QNAP.”
The new intuitive Thecus OS
This NAS runs on the newly-designed, enhanced ThecusOS™ 7.0. with hundreds of Apps and Services supported including Mobile apps and 3rd Party Cloud service migration Their latest iteration of their software the ThecusOS 7.0, is probably one of the best I have handled yet. There are live demos on their website. It really has become in its own, it now generally feels like a good stand-alone NAS OS. As well as that, it has the largest amount of apps I have seen available for the Network Attached System Platform.
Robbie summed up the N4810 powerfully.“A fantastic little NAS, and very competitive for the price. A big bold move from the guys at Thecus.”
