“The design of the new Thecus NAS series has become more attractive and stylish. We cannot say that there have been significant changes, but all the small details shape this new image.” This NAS is built on the SoC Intel Celeron N3050 platform. This 64-bit chipset has two cores, working at 1,6 GHz. On the rear panel there is a HDMI output. The memory capacity is 2GB, with the ability to upgrade. The list of compatible devices can be accessed on the official Thecus website.
“Overall this kind of configuration can be named one of the most modern in this segment of NAS."
“This model is equipped with a new OS software, Thecus OS 7.0, bringing a modernised interface and several new functions.”
“This NAS has the option to choose a file system and a volume size for RAID. In the list of available file systems in addition to the usual EXT4, there is also BTRFS, which has many interesting features."Regarding basic functionality of the software, this model stands at the same level as the competition. Users can efficiently use this unit in both office and home environments, an especially highlighted feature is BTRFS support. There are multiple additional applications available in the Thecus’ official catalogue. The most interesting ones according to IXBT, are those that allow the user to build a sophisticated multimedia-center with 4K support.
During testing, this model demonstrated performance that is distinctive for a x86 platform. High speeds while working with encrypted volumes were specifically highlighted by IXBT. Other highlights included the N2810’s cooling system working efficiently, while low energy consumption was also an added bonus.
Thanks to Alexander Vorobiev and the whole team at IXBT for this review.
