08/04/2016 – Technic3D has regularly been publishing a lot of reviews of modern hardware for many years. A short while ago, the Thecus N2810 was on their menu.
As usual, the magazine took a long look at the hardware first. “On the hardware side and its configuration the Thecus N2810 2-bay NAS does in no way need to hide. On the plus side we have the Intel Celeron N3050 dual-core processor for performance. It's assisted by a sufficient 2 Gigabytes of memory. According to Thecus the RAM can be expanded to 4 or even 8 Gigabytes. On the connection side of things, the potential buyer gets two LAN ports with Link Aggregation for bundling, three USB 3.0 ports – one at the front and two in the back – and a HDMI output. With this you are well equipped to playback multimedia content directly on a TV.”
In the evaluation the hardware gets very good grades. “The build quality of the N2810 NAS by Thecus is on a very high level everywhere. No matter if it's about stability or not perfectly fitting parts, we didn't find anything negative.”
The new ThecusOS 7.0 was also put extensively under the microscope and in the conclusion it was one of the many positive points. “The Thecus N2810 does a lot of things right, no matter if it's the very good performance even with encrypted data, the high build quality or the ThecusOS 7 operating system including the App Center. Besides that the NAS scores more points with its support for 256bit AES encryption and its adequate USB 3.0 ports.”
In the end the Thecus N2810 was regarded as a very good device. “Overall the potential buyer gets a fast NAS system with enough leeway in its usage scenarios.”
