07/07/2016 – Thecus has enhanced the MotionEye application with the addition of ONVIF discovery functionality. ONVIF provides a framework that allows devices and software to communicate and integrate seamlessly with each other. This new function supports the continuous development of open IP video networking devices and software.
ONVIF (Open Network Video Interface Forum) is an open industry forum for the development of a global standard for the interface of IP-based physical security products, such as communication between video management systems and devices (cameras) as well as access control systems. It’s mission is to provide and promote open interfaces to the security industry for effective interoperability.
Thecus NAS have used MotionEye with great success. This free open source surveillance application allows users to turn their NAS into a NVR (Network Video Recorder), providing an eye on their most critical assets. MotionEye delivers a smooth and intuitive user experience, complemented with its role-based access control that provides permission management to administrators to create user and administrator profiles according to their responsibilities. The potential of this application for Thecus NAS users has been extremely increased thanks to the ONVIF discovery function.
By adopting the ONVIF discovery function, Thecus users will benefit from seamless integration with ONVIF-compatible IP surveillance devices. The task of discovering new cameras in your network and connecting to them is now more intuitive and user-friendly. The IP compatibility list has been increased and now almost all ONVIF-compatible IP cameras should work with Thecus NAS.
