As an affordable, high-performance 5 bay NAS, the N5810 offers a strong hardware platform that is able to cater for the needs of power users at home and businesses users. It is embedded with the Intel Celeron J1900 Quad-Core Processor and 4 GB of DRR3 RAM. “Robust in construction, with simple but elegant design. Originally, the N5810 operated under OS 5, the OS upgrade was well overdue compared to the competition. Thecus’ developers were put to the task, and released Thecus OS7 in the beginning of 2016. Upon installation, we found it to be very intuitive.”
“Today, NAS has become more than just network storage media. Like cell phones, they offer a range of applications, for example downloading, streaming media or even to host a mail server. The N5810 is no exception to the rule, since it includes a catalog app, called App Center. Applications are listed directly in the interface, and they are installed and removed with one click. Of course, updates are also supported. But the Thecus application ecosystem is actually much richer than that. At the time of this writing, there are 727 applications available!”
Their final verdict was overwhelming clear. “The N5810 NAS is therefore a high-end product, with the specifications and performance justifying its price, especially in comparison to other 5 bay NAS of its competitors. Version 7 of Thecus OS allows the Thecus brand to catch up to the current industry leaders. Consisting of solid components, the performance is there and with the design and ergonomics both being engaging. What more do you need?”
