10/23/2015 - Keddr is a Russian IT media that calls itself a “positively-creative geek-community”, and thanks to their popular and humorous video reviews, they justify this name. This time the Keddr team decided to take a look at Thecus W4000+ network attached storage device and share their opinion with their audience.
“Well, we have received a very compact yet interesting NAS solution, the Thecus W4000+, which runs on Windows Storage Server 2012 R2 Essentials. This NAS targets the SMB segment.”
The WSSE operating system is pre-installed 60 GB SSD that comes built-in with the W4000+. As with other Windows Server software packages, WSSE offers a host of features including storage spaces, data deduplication, and integrated cloud services such as Microsoft Azure and Office 365.
“This NAS is an interesting solution. From one side if there were no Windows installed we could set up Linux and use this NAS according to its hardware capabilities. But instead, we have this ready-from-the-box solution with pre-installed Windows Server which will perfectly fit small and medium businesses. We have no complaints about the hardware. It is a very compact, silent and well-performing NAS. The Thecus W4000+ was standing on the desk 30 cm from me and the sound level associated only with HDD was hardly noticed by me. I think this is a simple server to buy as the software is already installed and a solution like this can save lots of time, and time in business language means money.”
We thank Keddr team and Semen Kremenyuk for cooperation and this review!
