07/08/2015-With VPN Server support, you can easily turn their Thecus NAS into a VPN server. Users with authorization to the NAS will have secure remote access to resources shared within the local area network of your Thecus NAS.
VPN services are becoming very attractive with needs for networking capabilities expanding. Individuals working away from the office can easily and securely access their company's network, much like a LAN. Likewise, users away from home can securely access their data through a private connection.
Thecus NAS utilize the L2TP VPN protocol, an extension of the Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP). L2TP combines the features of PPTP and L2f to generate a hybrid protocol that takes the best features of both. This allows for advanced encryption and certification to provide a secure connection for Thecus users.
Users can also easily turn their Thecus NAS into a VPN client and join an existing Virtual Private Network server via PPTP.
VPN Server support is available on all Thecus x64 model NAS running ThecusOS™ 5 .
