01/21/2015- iThome, a prominent IT media in Taiwan, provides the newest product testing and technology in the IT industry. This time the experts from iThome are looking at the new 5-bay, Windows Storage Server 2012 R2 Essentials NAS, the Thecus W5000.
The Thecus W5000 has a versatile set of features including centralized management, SMB 3.0 multichannel support, integrated cloud services and enterprise level technology including Data Deduplicaton. Also, integration of Microsoft's AD server sets this device apart from many of its Linux-based competitors. “The functions of WSS 2012 R2 Essentials are very similar to Windows Server. The interface is already familiar to many users because it is the same as Windows PC. Thecus has a track record of hardware excellence and developmental agility, with Microsoft there are plenty of Windows based application for the WSS NAS environment and these provide a bevy of functions that Linux-based NAS cannot reach.”
No entry barrier
Windows Storage Server 2012 R2 Essentials NAS is a great collaboration between Thecus and Microsoft. To eliminate the daunting operating experience of NAS, the user interface offers simple management, similar to Windows 8. With this, WSS 2012 R2 Essentials allows owners to manage their networked data with minimum IT skills necessary.
