06/18/2014- The Russian portal dedicated to modern technology and forming part of the major editorial Open Systems recently published their review of Thecus's latest home NAS, the N2310. From the start, Vadim Loginov was impressed with the possibility of creating a personal cloud and being able to access his data from anywhere in the world.
“The heart of the hardware is an 800 МHz AMCC APM86491-SKB800T processor containing controllers for two SATA II interfaces, a USB 3.0 and 2.0 port, and a Gigabit Ethernet port. The RAM consists of two Samsung K4B2G1646E-BCK0 DDR3 chips with a total capacity of 512 MB.”
Adding to the N2310's list of strengths is that it's extremely easy to set up: “First you need to go to the Thecus's main website and download a special utility. After starting it on your PC you can choose a mode, create RAID volumes, format disks… After that you can start creating your personal cloud – set up a Thecus ID, enter your login and password details, and that's it. You can now start using your remote storage device.”
The N2310 is also quite powerful for a NAS in this segment: “Testing demonstrated that the NAS can handle large files – the maximum read speed reached 82 МB/sec… Overall the results are not bad – this NAS can effectively be used both on home and small corporate networks.”
The review finished with the conclusion that the N2310 is a great purchase because, for a very small amount of money, you get fast network storage as well as the ability to create your own personal cloud.
Thanks to Vadim Loginov and the rest of the DGL team for the review.
