04/29/2014-Techno-Kitchen, which specializes in Russian IT video reviews, recently released their analysis of the Thecus N2560. Paying special attention to the device's great value, Techno-Kitchen were impressed by performance results on par with the competition but without the associated ‘break the bank' price-tag: “Thecus is a company that doesn't charge you for the brand. Users only pay for the hardware and software.”
When talking about the hardware found in the N2560, Techno-Kitchen went over the various ports included for external devices and the highly valuable HDMI port for playing videos on an HDTV: “And now comes the sweetest part! The device supports two hard drives (8 TB each), three external devices to be connected via the USB ports (including a new USB 3.0 port), Gigabit LAN, and (what's great) an HDMI port… The system has 2 GB of embedded memory and a dual core Atom processor optimized for the full-HD video streaming… The system is also convenient thanks to the hot-swap quick hard drive installation process. Then there is the fan, but this is almost completely silent – 35.5 dB at one meter.”
On the software side, the reviewers stressed the simplicity of the setup process and user-friendliness of the new interface: “The process of interacting with NAS has become even easier with the new Thecus OS. The old OS layout with the menu column is a thing of the past. Now the interface looks like a regular desktop computer.”
At the end of their review, Techno-Kitchen pointed out the high file transfer speeds: “The testing results show good benchmarks – large files can be transferred at a speed of a little more than 95 МB/s, and small files from 40 to 50 МB/s. The competition shows comparable results but Thecus costs less.”
As a result of this performance and collection of features, Techno-Kitchen awarded the Thecus N2560 with their Gold Cup award.
Thanks to Techno-Kitchen for their review!
