03/05/2014-Built to serve both the home users as well as the small business owners, the N4560 has been setting the bar high in terms of performance, build quality, and versatility. Recently reviewed in France, the online tech blog 59'Hardware took their readers on a detailed tour of this 4-bay NAS from Thecus.
59'Hardware is familiar with Thecus hardware and knows what to look for in a NAS. After unboxing the unit and examining its feature set, they could already identify the target market of the N4560: “The manufacturer wanted to equip this new model with many tools dedicated to individuals, but also small businesses. Regarding the first usage profile, multimedia is in the spotlight, thanks to video and audio output. The NAS can be integrated directly into the home theater to enjoy a huge video library.”
Thecus is well known for its build quality, and 59'Hardware made sure not to miss the hardware highlights of the N4560: “On the hardware side, the Thecus N4560 is very well equipped. It features an Intel Atom CE5335 processor clocked at 1.6GHz, 2GB of DDR3 RAM, and is equipped with a USB 3.0 connection.” And as mentioned earlier, also featured on the N4560 are HDMI and SPDIF ports which enable the multimedia capabilities of this very capable NAS.
This refined build quality results in better performance for the users, an undeniable advantage when it comes to storage: “The N4560 has the same processor as the AS-304T, so we compared their results. The Thecus NAS is much better- proof of the manufacturer's expertise- with a more than 15MB/s gain on average (except for reading small files where the two models are equal).”
At the end of the review, we get a strong sense that the Thecus N4560 left a really good impression on 59'Hardware: “In terms of the transfer rates of files, the new Thecus NAS is very convincing, especially compared to Asustor. With their undeniable expertise in the professional environment, Thecus knows how to optimize its equipment to provide a higher level of performance than many of its competitors.”
Thanks to 59'Hardware for another great review!
